Hope Ryden

The author spent more than twenty years tracking and photographing wild horses. In pictures and text she documents the social behavior of these fascinating animals. Most of the pictures were taken in the Pryor Mountains, where the horses have been documented to be descendents of the horses brought to America by the Spanish Conquistadors. Harem life, stallion fights, birth and stud bands are pictured and discussed. A gallery of photographs in the back of the book illustrate twenty colors that have shown up in this special herd.
